Roger Staubach, also known as "Captain Comeback" for his 23 fourth-quarter game winning heroics, is not only one of the most memorable Dallas Cowboys players, he is also one of the most memorable quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. Staubach was drafted in 1964, but because of his commitment to the Navy, he was unable to join the team until 1969. One of his most notable moments is the 50-yard “Hail Mary” touchdown pass to Drew Pearson in the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoff with only 24 seconds left in the game that ended with the Cowboys having a 17-14 victory. Not only was Staubach an outstanding quarterback, he was a leader on and off the field. His teammates knew with Roger on the field, they always had a chance to win. Once he retired in 1979, he amassed 1,685 passes for 22,700 yards and over 150 touchdowns. A few of his accomplishments include the 1963 Heisman Trophy, 2-time Super Bowl Champion, Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, and Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year. When asked how he wants to be remembered, Staubach stated “as a pretty darn consistent quarterback”.
